چکیده

Abstract Background Endovascular therapy is an established treatment for peripheral arterial disease. In aortoiliac disease, above the inguinal ligament, percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) + stent results in good long-term patency rates[1]. comparison, rates of PTA femoropopliteal below ligament are inferior, despite advancements technology[2]. Multi-level disease more common, lesions often longer length and re-stenosis remain high. There a paucity data outcomes infrainguinal stents therefore debate to what optimal strategy should be[3]. Method 5-year retrospective analysis 59 patients between 2014 2019 UK regional vascular centre. Patients with Rutherford Score 3 - 6 were treated by Vascular Surgeons Interventional Radiologists stent. Outcomes included at 6, 12, 24, 36 months, need revascularisation/reintervention, major amputation, death. Results 12% occluded 30 days 39% 12 months. 34% required further intervention (PTA, bypass, amputation) 7 out (12%) target limbs amputated. Conclusions Whilst demonstrates effective selection patients, it evident that work order identify best most clinically useful outcome measure.

Surgical infrainguinal revascularization for peripheral arterial disease: factors affecting patency rate

Background: Peripheral arterial disease is a source of morbidity and mortality. Surgical vascular reconstruction is a treatment option but probability of failure and complications are important concerns. In this study, we evaluated outcome of surgical infrainguinal reconstruction and factors affecting graft patency for a period of one year. Methods: In this cohort study, 85 consecutive patie...

Prevalence of Peripheral Arterial Disease in Diabetic Patients

Objective: Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a state characterized by atherosclerotic occlusive disease of lower extremities. Diabetes is the main risk factor for PAD. Material and Methods: To assess the prevalence of PAD, a cross sectional study was performed on 352 diabetic patients who referred to Yazd diabetes research center from 2007 to 2010. Vascular assessment was done by measuring ...

Drug-eluting stents in the management of peripheral arterial disease

Since major meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials in interventional cardiology showed the potential of drug-eluting stents in decreasing restenosis and reintervention rates after coronary artery stenting, one of the next steps in the treatment of arterial occlusive disease is the transfer of the active coating technology towards peripheral arterial interventions. In this manuscript, we ...

Optimal management of infrainguinal arterial occlusive disease

Peripheral arterial occlusive disease is becoming a major health problem in Western societies as the population continues to age. In addition to risk of limb loss, the complexity of the disease is magnified by its intimate association with medical comorbidity, especially cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. Risk factor modification and antiplatelet therapy are essential to improve long-t...
